A Chemical Engineer's Guide to Insurance for Processes, Equipment and Facilities (property, casualty, professional, & specialty insurance)

You cannot get from a concept to a working installation without securing insurance if it involves a major project! Therefore, our May 16th meeting, which will offer a guide for engineers on how insurance, engineering and plant operations fit into his (or her) world. It will touch upon the reasons that insurance is critical for industrial projects, how the insurance world is organized, what the insurers look at when making decisions, what will be deal-killers for them, and the roles played by chemical (and other) engineers.
This tour of the insurance world will be led by an expert, Robert (Bob) Shine, Chief Underwriting Officer at XL Catlin - Insurance, Americas. XL Catlin is a large ($1.2 billion net/year) international company with insurance and reinsurance activities in over 30 countries. The firm has considerable experience with a wide variety of chemical, utility and construction companies.
