Abstract - Membrane contactors are one of the “newer” technologies introduced for water treating applications in recent years. Now, with an operating history of more than fifteen years, this technology has been utilized in thousands of applications worldwide.
Common applications are removal of dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide in water and other systems for years. This presentation reviews the operating fundamentals of the technology and looks at various membrane options and system designs. A number of case studies will be presented that show the savings available when using this technology.
